NZ STATIONERY FESTIVAL: Add Art to Your Travel Journal with Elena Brambilla
NZ STATIONERY FESTIVAL: Add Art to Your Travel Journal with Elena Brambilla
Saturday, January 9th, 2027
12pm - 2pm
Add Art to Your Journal
Travel has a way of awakening our senses: the rhythms of an unfamiliar town, the colours and the detail of a new place. Travel journaling is a beautiful way to capture those moments. Instead of simply taking photos, you can slow down, observe, and translate what you see and feel into expressive pages filled with colour and personal notes.
In this relaxed and welcoming workshop, Elena will guide you through some techniques that make it easy to add watercolour art to your journal, even if you only have a little bit of time. The focus is on creative exploration rather than perfection, making it a wonderful practice for beginners and experienced creatives alike.
During the class you’ll learn:
- Techniques for working with ink and watercolour
- How to create artwork in small, portable notebooks
- Tips for art on the move - sketching and painting wherever inspiration strikes
You'll create a Stationery Festival-inspired journal page using colours, shapes, and small sketches to capture the atmosphere of your trip to Greytown. This can be the beginning of a travel journal that grows with every trip you take.
This workshop is suitable for creative souls at all levels. Everyone is welcome.
Included in the workshop:
- Traveler’s Company Watercolour Paper Notebook (value $11.90)
- MD Drawing Pen – Black 0.3 (value $9.90)
- Blackwing Natural Pencil (value $7.90)
- Watercolour dot cards for you to use on the day and take home
All you need to bring is your curiosity and a willingness to explore the world through your own creative lens.

This workshop is presented as part of the The New Zealand Stationery Festival.
You do not need to purchase a ticket to the Stationery Festival in order to attend this event, but it is highly recommended that you do. Attendees without a Stationery Festival ticket will not receive a tote bag, and will only have access to Cobblestones 15 minutes before the class begins.
Do not worry if you can't get a time-entry ticket for the Festival that is before your class begins - if you have a class ticket AND a Festival ticket we will honour whichever is the earliest.
